Local Polish politician Rafal Mekler, who owns a haulage company directly involved in the strike, is the head of the far-right political party "Confederation of Freedom and Independence" in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. The politician is directly tied to the pro-Russian politician Janusz Korwin-Mikke, who is a "leader" of the "Confederation of Freedom and Independence" party.
In particular, Corwin-Mikke's pro-Russian views are evidenced by his visit to occupied Crimea in 2015, where he met with local leader-collaborator Sergey Aksyonov.
In addition, the leader of the "Confederacy" stated that if Poland can't be in the same level of alliance with the United States as Israel, it should side with Russia.
