Russia switched to submarines to attack Ukraine: what threat remains in the Black Sea

Russians have begun using submarines that reload in Novorossiysk for attacks on Ukraine. The last three missile attacks were launched from submarine missile carriers.

This was reported by Dmytro Pletenchuk, Spokesperson for the Southern Operational Command, on the air of Apostrophe TV.

"The Russian occupiers are constantly looking for opportunities to activate their fleet in the Black Sea, despite the strikes of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which pushed the Russians towards Novorossiysk. There is a high probability that in some aspects they have adapted and at least adapted to reload their submarines in Novorossiysk," he said.

According to Pletenchuk, there is currently one Project 136 diesel-electric submarine in the Black Sea (Varshavianka-class submarine missile carrier). Before that, there was the Alrosa submarine of the Paltus project (it is no longer a missile carrier), from which we can conclude that the Russians decided to enter the Black Sea by submarines.

"3 of their 4 submarines are missile carriers. But, as we can see, one carrier does not go to sea. The reasons may be different, but they definitely have three carriers. And they take turns going to sea," said the Spokesperson for the Southern Operational Command.

Earlier, we reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces sunk a Russian ship in the Sea of Azov.
