Ukrainian TV presenter intervenes in language dispute with major cosmetics company

Ukrainian TV presenter Lyudmila Dobrovolska has responded to a dispute over "language nuances" with a major cosmetics company.

She wrote about this on her Facebook page.

"Sorry, not about Trump. Following up on the dispute that arose with representatives of a fairly large cosmetics company regarding "linguistic nuances" - that's exactly how they phrased it," Dobrovolskaya writes.

She decided to explain the correct use of the words "oil" and "butter":

"So I'll just point out:

Oil (Ukrainian) - vegetable food (sunflower, olive, corn, etc.),

Oil (Ukrainian) - care, external (oil for the body, face, etc.),

Oil (Ukrainian) - grease, lubricant for friction surfaces of mechanisms (motor oil),

Butter (Ukrainian) - creamy,

Butter (Russian: velikiy maguchy) - all of the above,

"And 'language nuances' are a little different."
