Showdowns among Republicans are inevitable, but there are chances: will Congress find the votes for aid to Ukraine

Internal showdowns in the US Republican Party between "Trumpists" and "Reaganists" should eventually lead to a decision to provide aid to Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed by the Сhief Сonsultant of the Center for Foreign Policy Studies, Ivan Us on the air of Apostrophe TV.

"I have the impression that the Trumpist wing is looking for arguments. First, they want a border (with Mexico), and there is no way without a border. Once the border was agreed they said no, it doesn't satisfy us. Now they are using Israel, but even if they vote to help Israel, and then the issue of Ukraine is discussed separately, they will find another argument," the expert noted.

In the opinion of Ivan Usa, the problem is that Ukraine has not found arguments to explain to the "Trumpists" that helping our country will also be their victory.

According to him, former British PM Boris Johnson tried to do this when, speaking on the leading Republican channel Fox News, he constantly reminded that it was under Trump that aid to Ukraine began and it was the former American President who made a great contribution to it.

The expert expects a coalition to be formed between Democrats and "Reaganists", who are not very pro-Trump but support aid to Ukraine.

Earlier "Apostrophe" reported that U.S. Senate unveiled a proposal of $118 billion aid package for Israel, Ukraine and border security.
