Poland talks about additional restrictions on Ukrainian goods: what the Cabinet of Ministers think

Polish Deputy Agriculture Minister Michał Kołodziejczak has said that he does not exclude the option of a unilateral embargo on imports of agro-food products from Ukraine in the absence of cooperation from the Ukrainian side.

This is stated in the report RMF24 with reference to Polsat News.

Kołodziejczak said that Minister Czesław Siekierski is scheduled to speak with his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Solsky on Wednesday.

"The ball is on Ukraine's side. Either you [Ukraine] will come to an agreement with Poland or we will have to impose further restrictions on imports of Ukrainian goods," the Deputy Agriculture Minister said.

The Agriculture Ministry spokesman also announced talks with protesting farmers that will start next week.

Now wheat, corn, sunflower and rapeseed cannot be imported into Poland.

At the same time, it should be noted that Polish farmers who are blocking the border with Ukraine have two main demands.

"There are two demands of Polish and European farmers which are identical. This is in terms of relaxation of green course requirements for farmers' activities in the European Union. And it is in terms of the return of benefits and subsidies that have been canceled or are planned to be canceled," - said First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Taras Vysotsky on air of the TV marathon, reports RBC-Ukraine.

He also added that there are other requirements, in particular, of a political nature: "There are certain requirements of a more political nature, which have nothing to do with the general agrarian policy, which in principle have nothing to do with the agricultural sector of neither European countries, nor Ukraine, nor our foreign trade."

Vysotsky noted that the Cabinet of Ministers is negotiating with Polish government and relevant line ministries. However, there are no such negotiations with individual political forces in Poland, which support the protests on the border.

Earlier, we reported that Polish farmers blocked the railroad and poured grain out of a freight car near Medyka checkpoint.
