A "novelty" awaits Ukrainian refugee children in Poland: what will change from September 1

Starting with the new school year, on September 1, all children of Ukrainian refugees who are currently living in Poland because of the war, will be required to attend local schools. The relevant bill is being drafted by the Ministry of Education.

This was reported by Deputy Education Minister Joanna Mucha, according to Radio Liberty.

According to her, the document is already at the final stage.

The official said that after intergovernmental consultations with Ukrainian colleagues, which took place in Warsaw at the end of March, it became known that about 50-60 thousand Ukrainian children in Poland are not covered by the education system.

She noted that Kyiv has shown great interest in introducing an obligation for Ukrainian children to attend Polish schools and offered cooperation.

"Most of this program is already ready, we are waiting for the law to be approved and then we will officially inform about the details," said Joanna Mucha.

It is known that Ukrainian language lessons will be introduced for young Ukrainians in Polish schools. For this purpose, they will hire teachers from Ukraine, who will even be offered a simplified procedure for nostrification of diplomas.

It is also possible that children will have lessons on European integration. The Ministry of Education believes that this knowledge will be needed in light of Ukraine's upcoming accession to the European Union.

Earlier, we wrote that children of refugees from Ukraine can attend free evening schools in five cities in Poland.
