Ukraine will be pushed to plan "B" if the West stops providing financial assistance to Kyiv.
This information was announced by the advisor to the President of Ukraine on economic issues, Oleh Ustenko, during a TV marathon.
According to him, Ukraine may turn to plan "B" as early as January 2024, when it becomes clear that the West will not provide financial aid to Kyiv. Ustenko emphasized that this strategy will be multilevel.
"If there is no support in the first days of January, it means that we need to move to plan "B". Plan "B" may be multi-level, but I believe that at the first stage it will be enough to turn to the internal market for capital borrowing," - continued Ustenko on the air of the TV marathon.
The President's advisor warned that in 2024 Ukraine's state budget deficit could reach almost $40 billion. Therefore, it is important for Ukraine to continue to receive financial assistance from international allies.
Ustenko also predicts that Ukraine may soon receive the first part of the tranche from frozen Russian assets, which will be used to finance the state budget deficit. However, the presidential adviser did not specify on air what he meant by borrowing capital on the internal market.
