"There is no magic pot": Blinken assesses the chances of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and warns of a serious problem

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that he sees no signs indicating that negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on a long-term cease-fire are approaching.

He said this in Davos at the World Economic Forum.

According to Blinken, the United States and a number of other countries will support the negotiations on the terms of respect for basic principles.

"If and when Russia is ready to negotiate on this basis, it will find Ukrainians who want to do it. And that will certainly find the support of the United States in this and many other countries," the Secretary of State said.

According to him, the United States is focused on ensuring that Ukraine has everything it needs to survive 2024. In particular, we are talking about Congressional approval of additional funding, which President Joe Biden has asked for. According to Blinken, the lack of these funds will create a real problem.

"There is no magic pot of money. If we don't get this money, it will be a real problem. It's a real problem for Ukraine. I think it's a problem for us and leaders around the world. Of the money that we're asking for, $50 billion is spent right in the United States to buy goods for Ukraine's defense. That's made in America. These are American jobs," the politician pointed out.

He added that he believes in the support for aid to Ukraine in both Houses of Congress, but it is still necessary to get agreement.

Britain was the first country to recognize that World War III had started and called on NATO countries to defend democracy.
