Poland continues the embargo on imports of Ukrainian grain, but it may be extended to other groups of Ukrainian products. Among the products that may be affected by the restrictions are vegetables, sugar, rapeseed, and oil.
This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk after the meeting in the format of the Visegrad Four in Prague.
"Poland continues the embargo on imports of Ukrainian grain, however, it is not excluded, and we are talking about it also with Ukrainian side, that it will be necessary to extend the embargo also on other products, if the EU does not find better ways to protect the European and Polish markets more effectively," he said.
Tusk argues that Ukrainian products pose a serious threat to Polish economy.
"The standards required of European and Polish farmers are very high. And there are no standards, no requirements for Ukrainian products. We want to help Ukraine - this is not up for discussion, but it cannot be at the cost of measures that will be fatal for entire sectors of the Polish economy.." the Polish PM said.
Earlier "Apostrophe" wrote that Polish farmers blocked the railroad and poured grain out of a freight car near Medyka checkpoint.
