During his visit to Brussels on June 4, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the country’s strategic course toward EU and NATO membership remains the same.
As he stressed during his briefing with NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, “It is declared in Ukraine’s Constitution and remains our unchangeable foreign policy priority.”
He added that Ukraine is ready to follow the Minsk agreements. “But, first of all, we have to be able to protect ourselves, become stronger economically, politically and militarily.”
Volodymyr Zelensky thanked for political and practical support that Ukraine receives from NATO and allies.
“I want to give our relationship with NATO a new impulse. Russia’s military aggression remains the main challenge for Euro-Atlantic safety. Among our tasks is stability and safety in the Black Sea, which requires additional efforts of the Alliance,” the president remarked.
In addition, Zelensky met with the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Junker. The president thanked the EU for their support and help in containing Russian aggression.
“Our goal remains the same – freeing the Donbas through political and diplomatic means,” Zelensky shared, noting the importance of continuing and strengthening EU sanctions against Russia.
Zelensky has also met with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda on June 4.
“I am committed to the reconciliation process and preventing the dominance of historically difficult moments of the Ukraine-Poland relationship in our partnership,” the president of Ukraine stated.
Duda, in turn, invited Zelensky to visit Warsaw on the anniversary of the start of World War II.
As “Apostrophe” reported earlier, during his meeting with the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, President Volodymyr Zelensky called Ihor Kolomoiskyi’s idea on default a rumor.
