The issue of providing Ukraine with long-range cruise missiles Taurus is actually blocked not by German Parliament, but by Chancellor Olaf Scholz himself.
This idea was expressed by military expert, reserve Colonel of the AFU Roman Svitan on the air of Apostrophe TV.
He doesn't exclude that Scholz fears a political or geopolitical retaliatory strike from Russia. According to him, the Chancellor fears that the AFU will hit the "Crimean bridge", and this would be extremely sensitive for the Kremlin.
"We will get Taurus missiles, but not the current modification with a range of 560 kilometers. Now, while the debate is going on in the Bundestag, German specialists are apparently modifying the missiles to have the same range of 230-250 kilometers as Storm Shadow. And we will further think how to use them in the most rational and effective way to reach Russian facilities on the occupied territories," the expert said.
In addition, he is not sure that the partners, at least at this stage, would agree that Ukrainian Defense Forces could use such weapons to hit the occupants facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Recall that the Bundestag rejected the proposal to provide Taurus missiles because of a violation of procedure and an attempt to use this for narrow party PR.
