The Ukrainian military will be able to receive the first F16 fighter jets from Western countries in a few weeks.
This was reported by The Standard, citing a senior military source.
As noted, the planes are expected to arrive in June-July 2024, but the publication did not specify who will supply the first fighters.
In 2023, Ukraine's allied countries agreed to transfer F-16 fighter jets to the Armed Forces. At that time, it was 61 units.
The Netherlands was one of the driving forces behind the international coalition to supply Ukraine with F-16s to strengthen its air defences against Russian invasion. The United States supported the delivery of the aircraft to Ukraine. Denmark, Norway and Belgium also joined the initiative.
At the same time, the issue of training Ukrainian pilots for combat missions was resolved.
In particular, it was reported that Ukraine would receive fighter jets from the Netherlands, Denmark and other partners. In total, the Dutch promised to deliver 24 F-16s for use in Ukraine.
