$50 billion for Ukraine: when the EU will make a final decision

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has greeted the European Council's decision to start talks with Ukraine and spoke about €50bn of assistance to our country.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also welcomes a decision on establishment of Ukraine's Fund (Ukraine Facility) in the amount of €50 billion for 2024-2027.

The Foreign Ministry said that €50 billion will be directed, in particular, to support macroeconomic stability, recovery and modernization of our state, as well as to accelerate integration into the EU.

"This is a clear signal that EU will continue to provide a financial support for Ukraine. We expect the finalization of all necessary legal procedures in January 2024, which will allow us to receive the relevant funding as soon as possible," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

Meanwhile, the leaders of 26 EU member states have agreed to provide Ukraine with €50 billion in aid for four years: starting from 2024, €1.5 billion every month. This was reported by "Suspilne".

However, the money won't be budgeted, as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban vetoed this amount. Therefore, the EU will look for other ways out of the situation: most likely, this issue will be discussed at a new EU summit in January 2024. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.

Orban, in turn, will not approve the allocation of money to Ukraine until the EU won't pay all the frozen funds for Hungary. About it reports Bloomberg.
