An important for Ukraine Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland - what issues are on the agenda

Amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Switzerland is planning to hold a summit on a "peace formula" in mid-June to discuss ways to reach a settlement.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

About 80 to 100 countries are expected to attend the summit, which is tentatively scheduled for June 16-17.

The main issue of disagreement is China's participation in the peace talks on Ukraine. This is crucial for Switzerland, as it is necessary to make the initiative credible.

"Ukraine's allies see China's presence as essential to the success of the meeting, given the influence they say Beijing has on Moscow," Bloomberg reports.

A representative of the Swiss Foreign Ministry said that the date and venue of the conference have not yet been determined. According to him, in addition to the perspectives of Ukraine, Russia and Europe, it is also important to listen to the opinion of the Global South, which plays a key role in the eventual inclusion of Russia in this process. In this regard, close contacts with China, India, Brazil, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia are ongoing.

Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko also reported on social media about the upcoming meeting, noting that China's participation is still under question.

"Switzerland is planning to hold a Summit on peace in Ukraine in mid-June (June 16-17) ... It will be attended by 80 to 100 countries. At the moment, it is unclear whether China will be present at the meeting," he said.
