Sweden announced the largest aid package for Ukraine. It will include an ASC 890 airborne surveillance and control aircraft, which Ukraine will receive for the first time.

This is stated on the website of the Swedish Ministry of Defense.

It is noted that the Swedish government has presented a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. It will be the largest aid package and will include:

  • 13 billion Swedish kronor ($1.3 billion)
  • armored personnel carriers
  • ASC 890 airborne surveillance and control aircraft to help identify targets at long range; and a supply of Pansarbandvagn 302 armored personnel carriers (APCs) for new brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces;
  • Rb 99 (AMRAAM), which can be used both on aircraft and in ground-based air defense systems;
  • 155 mm artillery ammunition;
  • surplus tanks;
  • resources for maintenance of previously transferred equipment.

"The money to be included in the additional law amending the budget will, among other things, strengthen Ukraine's air defense," the statement said.

A special attention within the package is drawn to the ASC 890 airborne surveillance and control aircraft, which, according to the publication, will provide Ukraine with “completely new radar reconnaissance and combat control capabilities against targets in the air and at sea. They are also capable of enhancing Ukraine's ability to engage targets in the long term. It is noted that this aircraft will act as a force multiplier after the F-16 fighters are commissioned. It is added that this aircraft will be delivered with training and technical equipment.
