Ministry of Defense mobilizes Ukrainians living abroad: evaders will face sanctions

If next year Ukrainian men between 25 and 60 years living abroad, won't show up to the AFU recruitment centers, sanctions will be applied to them.

About this, as reported by "Welt", said the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov.

"Ukrainians living in Germany and fit for military service should strengthen the Ukrainian army next year. Sanctions will be applied to those who do not fulfill this requirement," Umerov said in an interview.

"Welt" writes that despite the ban, many Ukrainian men fled abroad to avoid conscription. The Defense Minister spoke about an "invitation" towards them, but made it clear that there would be sanctions if someone did not respond.

"We are still discussing what happens if they don't come voluntarily," he said.
