The developer of Ukrainian UAV "Dovbush", Vladimir Yatsenko, said that the jet-powered "Shahed's" that Russia has begun to use is a step backwards. He wrote about it on Facebook.
"I would like to comment on the "treason" regarding rockets with jet engines - this is a step backwards for the following reasons. First, the jet engines available for use by UAVs are not very economical - they cannot be compared with large aircraft engines. Fuel consumption can reach 1 liter per minute of flight. The payload of such a UAV is significantly reduced.
Secondly, high speed is also not an advantage, because the faster an object moves in the air, the better it is observed on air defense radars. In addition, the jet engine has a significantly larger thermal footprint, which facilitates the targeting of air defense equipment. So these UAVs were shot down, are shot down and will be shot down!" - wrote Vladimir Yatsenko.
Earlier, he noted that Ukrainian specialists are working to produce drones that will intercept Iranian kamikaze drones. According to Vladimir Yatsenko, there is a constant struggle between the manufacturers of military drones and the manufacturers of anti-drone weapons.
