Russia continues its offensive operation in Kharkiv Region: updated maps

The Russians continue to exert pressure in most frontline areas - a tactical offensive in the direction of Lyptsi continues in Kharkiv Region, with some success near Vovchansk. In some directions, the occupiers have had some tactical success - ground assaults are underway northeast of Kupiansk, and the enemy is also trying to advance northwest of Avdiivka.

This was reported by analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Kharkiv Region

The Russian army continued its tactical offensive in the area of Lyptsi, located north of Kharkiv and east of Hlyboke. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled these attacks.

Russian troops also made some progress near Vovchansk, north-east of Kharkiv. Battles are taking place within the city, where small Russian subversive and reconnaissance groups are trying to establish their positions.

Luhansk Region

Russian troops continued offensive operations on the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line on May 15, but no confirmed changes were recorded in this area of the frontline.

The fighting continued:

  • north-east of Kupiansk near Synkivka and Petropavlivka;
  • south-east of Kupiansk near Pishchane, Kotliarivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Krokhmalne and Stelmakhivka;
  • west of Svatove near Myasozharivka;
  • south-west of Svatove near Novoyehorivka and Tverdokhlibove;
  • north-west of Kreminna near Makiivka, Novosadove and Terny.

A Russian source claimed that Ukrainian forces, supported by armoured vehicles, initially advanced to the northern outskirts of Kyslivka (southeast of Kupiansk), but that Russian forces later repelled the attack.

Donetsk Region

Ukrainian forces recently made marginal advances towards Siversk (northeast of Bakhmut) as Russian shelling continued in this area on May 15. Geo-location data indicates that Ukrainian forces have recently marginally advanced in the forest between the villages of Vesele and Spirne. Russian troops continued ground attacks east of Siversk near Verkhnekamianske, southeast of Siversk near Ivan-Darivka and Spirne, and south of Siversk near Rozdolivka.

Russian troops continued ground assaults near Chasiv Yar on May 15, but there were no confirmed changes to the frontline. Russian troops continued shelling:

  • north-east of Chasiv Yar near Bohdanivka;
  • in the Novy neighbourhood in the east of Chasiv Yar;
  • to the east near Ivanivske;
  • south-east near Klishchiyivka, Andriivka and Kurdyumivka;
  • to the south near Bila Hora.

On May 15, Russian troops reportedly advanced near Avdiivka, but there were no confirmed changes to the frontline. The ISW saw no visual evidence of Russian forces operating in the west of Umanske, nor any further advance by Russian forces near Netaylove, Nevelske and Pervomaiske.

Russian troops continued to advance north-west of Avdiivka in the area of Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Sokil, Yevhenivka, Solonove, Novoselivka Persha, Novopokrovske and west of Avdiivka in the area of Yasnobrodivka.

Russian troops recently marginally advanced west of Donetsk amid fighting west and southwest of the city on May 15. Geo-location footage shows that Russian forces have recently marginally advanced in Krasnohorivka (west of Donetsk).

Fighting continues west of Donetsk near Heorhiivka and southwest of Donetsk near Vodiane and Kostiantynivka.

Russian troops have recently marginally advanced in the border area of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, following the fighting that continued in the area on May 15. Geo-location data indicates that Russian troops have recently marginally advanced within the village of Urozhayne (south of Velyka Novosilka).

Southern Axis

Russian authorities reported the alleged capture of Robotyne, but there is no confirmation of this. Russian troops continued their offensive near Robotyne and Verbove. On May 15, positional fighting continued near Krynky on the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson Region.
