Norway will send Ukraine ammunition worth about €42 million (NOK 480 million).
This was reported by the Norwegian government.
"Ukraine's need for firepower is extensive and urgent. After dialogue with the Norwegian Armed Forces, we have assessed what we can do further donations from the Norwegian Armed Forces' stockpiles, which can quickly be transferred to Ukraine to help prevent a greater Russian advance. We have now donated 81mm bomb launcher ammunition for a value of approximately NOK 480 million," said Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
Norway has also recently donated hand grenades worth NOK 50 million and sniper ammunition worth NOK 3 million.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre previously said that Norway would allocate NOK 2.7 billion for Ukraine's air defense. On Tuesday this week, the German Defense Minister announced that Germany, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands are participating in a joint venture to send 100 Patriot missiles to Ukraine. Norway is investing 125 million euros to this collaboration.
Norwegian military support to Ukraine is part of a broad international effort by allies and partner countries. Through the Nansen programme in 2023, Norway provided Ukraine with military support worth about NOK 10 billion in the form of donations from the defense sector and industry, grants from international funds, and training for Ukrainian personnel.
Earlier, Apostrophe reported that Ukraine had started repairing armored vehicles in cooperation with Rheinmetall.
