Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky presented the award to French philosopher, writer, documentary filmmaker, political journalist, and intellectual Bernard-Henri Levy.
This was reported on the Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"I had the pleasant opportunity to present the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's award "For Assistance to the Army" to Bernard-Henri Levy, a French philosopher, writer, documentary filmmaker, political journalist and intellectual, a great friend of Ukraine and my good friend," the message says.
Syrsky says that he repeatedly met with Bernard-Henri in combat zones, in hot spots on the front.
"A public intellectual of global stature, Mr. Levy is armed with the truth and does a tremendous job to ensure that Ukraine continues to remain in the focus of the West's attention and be its ethical challenge. Through his films, publications, meetings with politicians, and speeches at the highest platforms, he calls for concrete actions: arming Ukraine, tightening sanctions against Russia, and recognizing Russian crimes as genocide," recalls Commander-in-Chief Syrsky.
It is claimed that Bernard-Henri Lévy witnessed many military conflicts and quite reasonably defines the Russo-Ukrainian war as "the main war on the planet", in which not only the independence of Ukraine, but also the future of Europe and the entire West is at stake. He also acts as a moral voice of the Western world and reminds us that indifference to aggression is complicity.
