On Wednesday morning, April 17, the Russian occupiers once again attacked Chernihiv - there are dead and wounded, cars and buildings are destroyed.
This was reported by the Head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration Vyacheslav Chaus.
According to him, the enemy launched three missile strikes almost in the center of the city.
"There are civilians killed and many wounded. Rescuers and medics are working now. All necessary aid is being provided. A headquarters has been set up, all necessary assistance will be provided. More information will follow. Russia is a terrorist! Terrorists must be destroyed!" he wrote on Telegram.
It is noted that as of 10:00 a.m., four people have been reported dead.
Vyacheslav Chaus also called on those who are not indifferent to donate blood for the wounded. He emphasized that blood with a negative Rh factor is especially needed.
The published videos show broken windows in a new building, damaged cars and piles of rubble. Another video shows people looking at the site of a hit after one missile, where a column of black smoke rises into the sky. Suddenly, another missile flies overhead, and locals fall to the ground and cover their heads with their hands.
According to the Mayor of the city, Oleksandr Lomako, all communications were cut off in the area where the arrivals took place.
"We have cut off all communications in the area: electricity and gas. To prevent even more destruction," he said. Lomako added that the attackers targeted social facilities not related to critical infrastructure.
As a reminder, the air raid warning was first sounded in Kyiv and the region at 8:50 a.m. Later, residents of Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy and some other regions were warned of the danger. Around 9:00 a.m., high-speed airborne targets were spotted flying across Sumy to Chernihiv region, which was assumed to be two missiles. In addition, missiles were flying towards Kyiv Region and the capital. At 9:00 a.m., local residents of Chernihiv reported three loud explosions. After that, a thick column of smoke rose into the air.
