Anti-aircraft units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, shot down a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber at a distance of 300 kilometers from the border using the S-200 Angara system.
This was reported by Channel 24 with reference to its own sources in the GUR.
"This is the first strategic aviation aircraft that Ukraine managed to destroy during the flight. It struck Ukraine," the source said.
According to the source, the destruction of the Tu-22M3 was a Ukrainian intelligence operation. Moreover, after the destruction of the enemy bomber, the other one that was flying behind it turned around. The intelligence source also noted that the Tu-22M3 was attacked at a distance of 300 kilometers from Ukraine.
"The enemy aircraft was hit by an S-200 anti-aircraft system," the source said.
