Belgium did not allow the Ukrainian military to strike Russia with its F-16s

The Ukrainian military will be able to use the F-16 multirole fighter aircraft, which will be transferred by the Belgian authorities, only on its own territory, for defense.

This was announced by Belgian PM Alexander De Croo in Brussels at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Regarding your question about the use of aircraft, everything that is included in our agreement clearly states that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can use them on Ukrainian territory," De Croo emphasized.

The Prime Minister added that Belgium will do everything in its power to deliver several aircraft to Ukraine this year.

"This can be a good contribution to the assistance of other countries that are also providing F-16s this year," he said.

Belgium plans to supply Ukraine with 30 of its F-16 fighter jets by 2028. The first aircraft should be delivered by the end of the year.

Earlier, we reported that the first group of Ukrainian pilots graduated from F-16 training in the United States.
