German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) are preparing for a military conflict with Russia.
This was reported by German edition of Bild with reference to a secret document from German Defense Ministry.
"A possible escalation of relations between NATO and Russia could take place as early as February 2024. This is a textbook scenario that describes step by step how Russian President Putin will act and how NATO will have to defend itself. In this Bundeswehr scenario, the escalation would begin in just a few weeks. Soon after that, tens of thousands of German soldiers will have to be sent into battle," the article says.
The conflict scenario is the following. Russia launches a wave of mobilization and conscripts another 200,000 people in February 2024. In the spring, the Kremlin will launch a large-scale offensive in Ukraine and defeat the AFU amid insufficient Western support until June 2024.
Further, according to the scenario, the Russian Federation provokes aggression against ethnic Russian minorities in the Baltic States. Clashes will begin and the Russia will hold a major military exercises "West 2024" with the involvement of 50,000 soldiers. In October, Russia will transfer troops and medium-range missiles to Kaliningrad to strike the "Suwalki Gap." In December, after the U.S. presidential election, there could be a border armed conflict.
In January 2025, Poland and the Baltic States will call a meeting of the NATO Council and declare a growing threat from Russia, which in March will move additional troops to Belarus and to the borders of the Baltic States. In May 2025, NATO will decide on "measures for reliable deterrence" to prevent Russia from attacking the "Suwalki Gap" from both sides - Belarus and Kaliningrad. According to a secret document of the Bundeswehr on the "day X", the NATO commander will order the transfer 300,000 soldiers to the eastern flank, including 30,000 Bundeswehr troops.
